Delhi Metro’s expansion plan is certainly to help the citizens of the capital to overcome congestion and the transportation overcrowding. The decision of Metro Corporation to extend the tracks to Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurgaon and Faridabad will also add to the infrastructural facilities of the National Capital.

Delhites are more than happy to have a world class metro subway facility in their city. The inaugurated three lines running through the heart of Delhi and connecting the eastern and western corridor of the capital has overwhelmed the people of the capital. Traveling in air-conditioned coaches and free from the traffic jam and pollution is more than delightful for the citizens living in Delhi or visiting the city. The road accidents and the energy consumption have also gone down thanks to the metro services.

However, the present metro lines in Delhi are overburdened. They are also insufficient to cater to the growing urbanization in the city. Now with the progress of the work to expand the metro service in to various areas and the neighboring satellite cities there is hope for better connectivity. Even the pressure of urban congestion on the basic amenities of Delhi is going to be less with people moving to these connected peripheral cities.

Delhi Metro expansion is a welcome gesture. Citizens are happy to see stations coming up in different areas. But the metro bus connectivity is a major problem yet to be addressed. Security in the trains and stations is another concern. People of Delhi are to learn urban manners like - not spiting in the trains and standing in queues at stations.

Thanks to Mr. Sreedharan and his dedicated team. The metro expansion is crucial to the success of the 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games too.
